Getting Microsoft's Access templates
Several demos here are rebuilds of Microsoft's own templates. Their public download buttons currently fail. Here is how to get the originals.
Issues, Bugs, Students, and a number of other demos on this site follow Microsoft's Access templates. The pages are our rebuilds in the browser, with sample data.
Microsoft's Featured Access templates page still lists those templates, but the download links on it no longer work. Clicking them gives "not found".
Access MVP Daniel Pineault found a working way to download them direct from Microsoft. All credit to Daniel Pineault (devhut.net) for working this out. His post Access Northwind 2.0 Direct Downloads explains the method. We do not repeat the steps here.
The fallback that always works: in Access, go to File > New and search for the template name.
Microsoft's templates are .accdt files. When you open one, Access builds a new
.accdb database from it.
Nifty Access does not host Microsoft's files. The templates are Microsoft's, and the download method is Daniel Pineault's.
